Construction Output Decreased by 4.3 Pct in 2009

Continuing the decline of previous years, output of construction decreased by 4.3 pct in 2009.

Construction producer prices increased on average by 3.1pct in 2009. In December 2009, the volume of construction activity decreased by 6.2 pct according to both unadjusted indices and to ones adjusted for working days compared to December 2008. According to indices adjusted for seasonality days, the production – after a fall of 9.3 pct in November – was 8.4 pct higher in December than in the previous month. Construction producer prices rose by 1.6 pct in the fourth quarter of 2009 compared to the same period of 2008.
