Retail Sale Volumes Decreased by 5.2 Pct in 2009 and by 7.4 Pct in December

In December 2009, there was no change in the falling trend of retail sales starting at the beginning of 2007.

The volume of retail sales – based on calendar-adjusted data – decreased by 5.2 pct in the whole of 2009 and by 7.4 pct in December compared to the same period of the previous year. In the whole of 2009, at current prices, turnover was HUF 279 billion less than in the previous year.
Compared to the previous month, the volume of retail sales decreased by 0.7 pct according to seasonally and calendar-adjusted data.
